Monthly Changes in Vegetation

Monthly vegetation index images, correlated to vegetation vigor, describe the pattern of vegetation growth throughout the year. Important parameters, such as the start of the growing season, rate of greenup, maximum greenness and total greenness, can be extracted from the vegetation index images.

Drought potential, fire potential and vegetation classes can be derived from the monthly vegetation index images and their parameters. Multi-year time series data allow the detection of longer term trends in the vegetation.
